This week's neglected book

Bright Blaze of Magic by Jennifer Estep

Series: Black Blade #3
Publication Date: April 26, 2016
Publisher: Kensington Books
Bad Things Always Come In Threes…

As a thief, I'm good at three things: hiding in the shadows, getting in and out unseen, and uncovering secrets. I put these skills to work for the Sinclair Family, one of the magical mobs that run the tourist town of Cloudburst Falls.

Everyone knows Victor Draconi wants to take over all the other Families--and kill every last Sinclair. What they don't know is that I'm on to him, and no way will I let the man who murdered my mom get away with hurting all the other people I care about. Especially when I've got places to break into, stuff to steal, and Devon Sinclair fighting right by my side…

Why did I add Bright Blaze of Magic to my bookshelf?

I don't even know why I haven't read this book yet.  I received all three books in this trilogy from NetGalley.  I downloaded this one in March 2016 after reading and enjoying the first two books in the trilogy.  I should have read the book back when I first received it.  As time went on, I realized that I didn't remember enough of the first two books to read this one without getting lost.  So it has sat on my NetGalley shelf mocking me for the past four years.  I just finished my re-read of the first two books with the audiobooks earlier this month and am ready to dive into this one now.

What are your thoughts? Have you read this book?  Would you recommend it to others?

  1. Audio is such a great way to do re-reads. I tend to read mostly standalones, but that's how I would do it, since my audio time and reading time do not overlap. Hope it's a fitting ending to the series.

  2. I don't think I've noticed this series doing the rounds...it does sound interesting but I need to catch up with her elemental assassin series first!

  3. I can relate to why you didn't continue...we do get sidetracked and then lose track of the story. I hope you enjoy it finally.

  9. I have had that happen before with series; it's so easy. :( I keep meaning to try Estep and I even have her on my TBR. Go for it, read it!

  10. Yay for finishing up the first two re-reads and moving into this one soon.

Yeah, I've let series slide to the side for no apparent reason, too. Life and soooo many books, maybe?

  14. This looks fun but I can see why it'd be hard to pick up. There's one of my very favorite series that I'm behind on but at this point I need to go back and start at the beginning because I remember just about nothing from the rest of the series. It's so frustrating!
