Stacking the Shelves #207

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
I would say that this was a pretty good week overall.  Last Sunday was beautiful and I got my husband to help me wash two of our cars after spending the morning at a local used book sale.  I didn't get to the gym that day like I had planned but I feel like I got quite a bit accomplished.

The first couple of days of the workweek were pretty hectic.  I don't get too many hectic weeks but they do tend to make the day go by faster.  I fell behind in my buddy listen of Year One with Anne @ Books of My Heart as a result but I did finish the book even if it took me an extra day or two.  I ended up skipping the gym on Tuesday as well since I just need some time at home in my pajamas.

On Wednesday, my work sent me home at 11:00 because of a predicted storm.  I don't think it got as bad as they said it would but I got to spend the day with a book instead of behind a computer so it was a win in my book.  I got back on track with the gym on Thursday and ended up going twice this week.

How was your week?

  1. I've had a tiring week moving furniture and emptying that big dresser. Who knew there was so much stuff in it! We're also getting hit with a two day storm as we try to do this so I'm nervously checking the fence in my front garden in case it is knocked down too. I'm way behind in my usual blog visits and comments catchup!

    1. That sounds like a lot of work. I hope the storm isn't too bad!

  2. You are pretty lucky with your job. Mine will NEVER send us home. We have to work even when there's a state of emergency called. It makes me mad, because other sites will close for weather, but not NJ. Nice haul. I loved Good Girl's Guide to Murder, and cannot wait for the followup. I am looking forward to More than Maybe too, as Hahn's first book was a hit for me.

    1. This is really new at my job. I remember driving there in terrible weather just a few years ago. I am not sure what has changed but I'll take it.

  3. Getting sent home because of impending bad weather sounds like a perfect day! LOL An unexpected day off, at home, with extra time to read? Yes please! :) I love the sound of More Than Maybe!

  4. I got sent home twice from my job because of weather. Both times were right after I got to work. So, basically, I went to work in horrible weather and barely got any work done before they sent me home in worse weather. Still, reading all day is more fun than working!

    1. They sent us home an hour into the work day a few weeks ago. It seemed kind of silly. I won't come in if the roads are bad. I would rather take a vacation day than have someone hit my car and have to deal with the mess.

  5. Yeah that storm Wednesday was not fun. Apparently my company doesn't care about dicey or icey commutes. I was stressed out and my stepdad gave me the heads up to go home another way because there was a major accident just before my exit and it was still backed up when I was getting home some hours after him, because apparently even his company lets their employees leave when the weather is getting bad. Mine just doesn't care apparently. I was wanting the call the week quits after Wednesday because the drive home was soooooo stressful and took me twice as long to get home than usual.

Nice new reads! Totally new to me ones. I hope you enjoy them all!

    1. I was kind of surprised but happy that we were able to leave early. It is just not worth the risk to drive in the bad weather.

  6. That's nice you got to wash your cars with your husband, must be nice to have them clean again. Days do go fast when you're that busy on week, but it's not fun when the days are too hectic. That sounds like a win that your work sent you home early on Wednesday and you got to read instead. Nice haul you had this week. I only got one new book this week, She's Got Game by Laura Heffernan, it was on sale for 99 cents so I had to grab it as I've been curious about the series. Have a great week!

  7. Sounds like an all around great week for you. You're right about needing a day now and then to stay in your pajamas. We washed the car on Monday and it now looks like I took it mudding which is odd considering snow is white, LOL- always the case when we make it look nice.

    Have a great week, Carol!

    1. I got behind a car that sprayed dirt all over my car this week. I guess they are not made to stay clean :)

  8. I'm glad the storm wasn't as bad as they had predicted it would be. I've had a week of police driving all over my neighborhood.

  9. An interesting week and thanks for listening with me! I never expect it to go exactly the same speed for both people. We had the weather cancellation Friday and it was glorious to be home.

I hope this week is much better with reading great books and no weird weather.

  13. What beautiful pictures of all of your goodies Carole! I got More than Maybe too, and am looking forward to reading it. I admire your dedication to working out. I need to be more active myself. Pajama days are the best, and I love that you got to go home and enjoy a book instead of spend all day at the computer. Ihope you have a wonderful week :)
