Stacking the Shelves #203

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
Another busy week!  The holidays are officially over and I was back at work 5 days this week.  It felt like a long week.  I had a doctor's appointment immediately after work on Monday which made for a very long day.  On Thursday, my daughter and I went to a local author event with Brigid Kemmerer, Rena Barron, and Sarah Henning.  It was a lot of fun!  I was glad that my daughter wanted to go with her old mom and I also had the chance to chat with Jessica from a GREAT read which was nice.  You should check out Jessica's blog if you haven't yet :)

My daughter went back to college on Friday.  She left during the day while I was work so that she could get to school before dark.  I got a phone call from her at the end of my workday telling me that she had a flat tire and was about 1 mile from school (and 2.5 hours from home).  She got some help getting the tire changed and I found a dealership with the tire she needed in stock close to the school.  She got the new tire on the car Saturday morning and I have my fingers crossed that this will not happen again.  My dog Stella had to go to the vet on Saturday since she has been shaking her head a lot and her ear looked really red.  Turns out Miss Stella has a yeast infection in both of her ears so we get to deal with that for the next couple of weeks.

It was a busier week than I expected but I hope next week will be much calmer.  How was your week?

  2. How fun that you and Jessica were at the same event, and it was a good one. I hope you love Throw Like a Girl, when your read it. Poor pup and kid. Getting a flat stinks, but we have always had AAA, so I still don't know how to change a tire. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on Heartland. I pre-ordered, but I really need to catch up on the series first.

  3. I hate that kind of week where a few things just start going wrong and it ends up really frustrating or annoying. Hopefully there will be no drama for you this week and things will settle down a bit!

  4. Sounds like an annoying week. I suspect my dog has an ear infection too. I’m going to try cleaning them and see if she stops flapping. Enjoy your new books!

  5. It was so fun getting to see you again! Bummer for your daughter though! And to be so close to school when that happened. Glad she was able to get some help and get it all squared away.

Nice new reads too! I still need to read No Exit! I picked that one up sometime ago. I think maybe as a kindle book though...I don't recall writing that in my spreadsheet! Lol! It might have been a daily deal at one point so I thought why not? Kindle books tend to get lost or forgotten about for me! Lol! Hope you enjoy all the new lovelies!

  7. It's always a bit difficult adjusting to a full week of work after some time off. That's nice you got to attend an author event. I hope your dog will be feeling better soon and that the treatment helps for ear infections.

  11. I am glad you and your daughter had a fun time at the author event. It sounds like a great time. I am sorry though about your daughter's flat tire--that must be frustrating because your so far away and want to help. It sounds like it worked out well. Hopefully Stella will be feeling better in no time. Is she good about taking medicine? I hope you enjoy all your new books, Carole! Have a great (and calmer) week!

  12. Good for your daughter getting her flat tire worked out, car maintenance can be such a pain at times but hope she does great with this upcoming semester!! And yay for some Sarina Bowen, love her writing.

  13. Glad your daughter got the tire taken care of. Glad you got to go an author event. It has been a while for me. I don't think bookstores around here are very accommodating. Last one I went to was 2.5 hours away, in a smaller city.

  14. So cool you gotta go to an author event, we don't get any of those close enough for me to travel to. It's also cool you got to meet a blogger, that is always fun! Great haul!

Have a great week and happy reading!

  15. Well, at least your daughter was close to school. And yep, hope the rest of her year is uneventful in the car department. The author event sounds like it was really fun and you grabbed some great books. It's always hard going back to work after the holidays. I had a full week last week and another this week but then I have a 3-day weekend. Plus I need to take off a day for my birthday holiday coming up so I need to see when I can work that one in. Hope you have a wonderful week!
