Stacking the Shelves #202

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
I hope everyone has had a great start to 2020!  This was a strange week at work since we were off both Tuesday and Wednesday.  I think that I spent the whole week trying to figure out what day it was.  I enjoyed my New Year's but I hate to admit that I was asleep by the time midnight came.  I guess that is what happens when you are old and get up at 5:00 am every morning.

I have started my 2020 reading with a bang!  I have finished either a book or an audiobook every single day of the year so far.  The trend will not continue but it is fun that I can say that right now :)

My husband had a birthday on Friday and my oldest daughter is turning 25 on Monday.  We are planning to go out to dinner to celebrate with family tonight which should be fun.  My younger daughter is home for just a few more days before needing to head back to college for the spring semester.  It is probably going to feel quiet around here once all of the celebrations are over and it is just me, my husband, and our dogs at home.

How was your week?

Books Added
Deal with the Devil by Kit Rocha (Publisher)
Forever Strong by Piper J. Drake (Publisher)

The Last Train to Key West by Chanel Cleeton (Edelweiss)

  1. Thursday did feel like a Monday. Having the holidays smack dab in the middle of the week did throw me off a bit. You really are on a roll with your reading! Way to go! I haven't finished a book yet, I'm afraid. Happy Birthday to your husband and daughter. It must have been nice having everyone home. My mom headed home today. It took her about 8.5 hours, which isn't bad. At least she didn't have to contend with snow and closed highways like my in-laws did when they headed home the week before.

I hope you enjoy your new books! The Last Train to Key West sounds good.

I hope you have a great week, Carole!

  2. Yeah, the week was weird indeed, trying to figure out the day of the week. Happy birthday to your husband and daughter. Here is to you having a great week.

  3. I remember those early starts and all the weird shifts I used to work at the airport. It's a relief not to still have to deal with that. I'm confused about the day of the week on virtually a daily basis and the festive period only makes that worse!

  4. A book a day - you're awesome! I hope they were all great too. Middle of the week holidays definitely put me off too, but since my parents were away, I didn't have to do a family event. Staying home made it less confusing for me. I couldn't resist the new Cuba book either. I am excited to delve back into that world. Hope we both love it

  5. Happy birthday to your husband and daughter! I stayed up until midnight, but I was reading in bed instead of partying.

  6. Oh nice! Sounds like a good week! I wish I had some days off, I only had New Years Day off. And then Friday I found my company mailed my paycheck stub to me which is unusual as they're always given to us at work. Then I was dismayed to see my vacation hours were not put in for that week so my check was short. One thing I hate is having to figure out who the hell I need to talk to to figure out wtf is going on when it comes to my paycheck. Ugh. Not looking forward to Monday at all!

I envy the nice easy going week you've had and wow! Finishing a book a day! It sadly took me all week to finish my current read and I stayed up late last night to make myself finish it so I could at least start this week off with a new read...eventually! Lol.

Nice new reads too! New to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!

    Here's my StS

    Have a GREAT day!

  7. Oh what a nice holiday time you have had with books and family! I am interested in Deal with the Devil as I enjoy that author and just saw it today on some posts. It's hard to keep up with everything when you read several genres. Have a great week with some good books!

  12. LOL, yeah, having a few days off would throw me for a loop, too. Wow, got half your birthdays out of the way right at the first of the year. Glad you're together for the holidays still to celebrate.

Ooh, got the latest Chanel Cleeton. Nice!

Wishing you a good week, Carole!

  13. I've heard from a lot of bloggers that they're struggling with what day of the week it is. You're not alone! LOL! Happy birthday to your hubs and daughter!

  14. Mid week holidays really throw everything off I think and that's without having to worry about heading to work doing the week. I think if had to throw that in I'd be so confused. Happy birthday to your husband and daughter and enjoy your reading! Train to Key West has been calling my name. Have a great week!

  15. Don't worry I was sleeping the New Year Away too! I just happen to wake up like a few minutes till twelve and dad walked through to go the the bathroom and I was like Happy New Year and back to sleep...lol. :)

I am curious about Deal with the Devil since I have seen a few people get that in their hauls.

I have managed to finish 3 books for the beginning of the year so I am doing well too!

Have a great week and happy reading!

  17. I'm back at work now after having 2 weeks off. To say it's hard is an understatement. I managed to stay up until midnight but I have to admit it wasn't easy. I've read three books already this month as well and while I'd like it to continue, I doubt it will. Apollo has something to say about my reading goals. I swear I get up 20 times a day to take him outside.

Hope you enjoy everyone's birthday and have a wonderful week and a great 2020. I am really wanting to read Dead with the Devil. I've been seeing it everywhere.

  18. I'm a teacher and I ALWAYS forget what day it is during long breaks - I am even worse about it in the summer, so it truly is a wonder I get myself together enough to participate in the various memes. Happy birthday to your husband and daughter, Happy New Year!

  21. I love when you get so lost in holidays that you can't even tell the date anymore! Wow, that is a lot of reading and a great start to the reading year :D Mine has been a lot slower. Ahh I hope you have a lot of fun celebrating all of the birthdays. :)
