This week's neglected book

Dead to You by Lisa McMann

Publication Date: February 7, 2012
Publisher: Simon Pulse
Some memories are better left untouched.

Ethan was abducted from his front yard when he was just seven years old. Now, at sixteen, he has returned to his family.

It's a miracle... at first.

Then the tensions start to build. His reintroduction to his old life isn't going smoothly, and his family is tearing apart all over again. If only Ethan could remember something, anything, about his life before, he'd be able to put the pieces back together.

But there's something that's keeping his memory blocked.

Something unspeakable...

Why did I add Dead to You to my bookshelf?

Have you ever found a book sitting on your bookshelf and have no idea where it came from or how it got there?  I was kind of surprised when browsing my shelves for a book to feature to find this book.  It sounds good but I have no idea where I got it or how long it has sat there waiting to be noticed.  It is fairly short so I would like to try to work it in.

What are your thoughts? Have you read this book?  Would you recommend it to others?

  2. LOL, yep, I've had that lowering experience. I've stared at books and wondered if someone else's book ended up on my shelf. It does look thrilling.

  3. Oh my goodness, this sounds fascinating but like it also might be heartbreaking. It reminds me of one I read a few years ago called We Now Return to Regular Life about a boy who returned home years after being abducted.

  7. I've never heard of this before, but it sounds interesting! I love mystery/thriller type books. The most recent one I read was Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen McManus.

  8. I cannot tell you how many books are on my shelf that when I find them, I think "when did I buy that?" I swear they breed when I leave the room.

  10. This is one I'd be almost scared to read. It looks great but it could be too intense for me!

  11. I'm sure this is a dark read but I don't mind those. It also a topic which can make me mad because why do they have to hurt children? I'm sure it is something I would read but I haven't heard of it before.

  12. This looks really good.. and yep happens to me all the time. Heck, just today I looked at my calendar for March and saw a title listed for a review post (still needed to be read) I had no idea until I looked it up what it was!! Then I was like oh yeah, I wanted to read this!! My other favorite is when I get all excited and one-click a book and Amazon or Audible tells me I own it🤣

  13. I have read several books like this, where someone was kidnapped and returns home. The stories are usually really emotionally charged and interesting.

  14. I like Lisa McMann, but I've actually never heard of this book. I'll have to check it out.

  15. Yes that has happened a few times recently to me! I found a book on my e-reader that sounds like a romance thriller, something I never read, so how it got there is anyone's guess!

  16. Oh geez, I need to know what happened! Get to it so you can tell me :D

  17. I read her Wake series and a stand alone and I've enjoyed her writing. This sounds heartbreaking. I wonder if there's a paranormal element? Usually there is with her books.

  18. Ha! Yes. I have quite a home library and honestly don't know where most of them came from. Hope you end up enjoying this!
