Stacking the Shelves #191

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
You might remember that I was looking forward to a nice quiet weekend last week.  That didn't happen.  Not even close.  I had a migraine last Saturday and my family gathered at my mom's house to work on her deck.  On Sunday, my sister needed me to take care of my nephew because my niece was really sick.  My husband and I took him with us to do a little shopping and exploring and we all had a nice time.  I started feeling sick on Monday and when I got home so was my husband so we basically just sat on the couch all night.
I feel like I have just basically been trying to keep up this week and not doing a great job of it.  I haven't done a lot of reading but I have gotten a lot of audiobook time in.  I skipped posting a review on Tuesday just to give myself a chance to catch up with comments a bit.  I made the mistake of browsing through the books for sale at the gym and found a couple that I would like to have.  I made a deal with myself.  I can grab some loose change and pick out one book every time I go to the gym (at least for now).  Hardcovers are only 50¢ and paperbacks are 25¢ so it won't be a financial strain and maybe it will be the encouragement I need to get some exercise every day.

Today, my husband and I are going to see a football game at my daughter's college.  We will be gone most of the day but I am really looking forward to seeing her perform with the band and maybe visit a little bit.  I hope to catch up with everyone on Sunday.

  2. I need an incentive to start getting into shape too! Mind you, I have enough work with the house and garden which doesn't seem to be getting done! My dad and I have had dodgy stomachs on and off for about a week now which has been really annoying. Ugh. I hope you are feeling better now.

  7. Good deal on the gym. I'm so exhausted from traveling and now I have the family stuff this afternoon/evening and then 2 days of driving again tomorrow and Monday. It was 26 here this morning, in the 40s daytime UGH. I hope you feel much, much better and get a little relaxing and reading this week

  10. Ohh I want to read Patron Saint of Nothing! Looking forward to reading your review on that one.

I had a migraine for two days last week, too so I can totally relate.

    I hope you're having a great weekend!

  11. I hope you had fun at the football game, and that though you were busy, it was a good busy. Your nephew is adorable. That's nice of you to keep him entertained when his sister was sick. You had quite a haul. I loved Britt-Marie. I loaned it to one of my co-workers, and she liked it so much, she insisted her book club read another Backman book.

  12. Mildred's Corgi series is fun. I love Watson! And I often make deals with myself about buying more boos. A local used book store is my favorite haunt. I trade in books and bring more home. LOL I hope you are feeling better:)

  13. I've been struggling to keep up with all blogging things. I seem to be able to keep up with comments or with getting the reviews written, but not both. I've visited a bit the past few weeks, but I have reviews for books read in late August that I still haven't written reviews for them. I'm hoping to catch up on that this week. Have a wonderful week.

  17. Sorry you felt ill. I was completely under the weather last weekend and as I type this today my horrible headache is coming back. I hope you enjoyed the football game and got to visit with your daughter. I think that's a great deal about the gym - go for it!

  18. Ooh being sick is not fun! I hope you had a good weekend this time around though. I wish a gym near me had books for sale - that would be a good incentive to go for sure! LOL Ooh I'm so excited about Find Me Their Bones. I loved the first book.

  19. It's tough when you think you're going to get some rest and you end up all over the place and really busy. Sorry to hear you don't feel good. I hope you feel better. Your nephew is cute, and it sure was sweet of you to take care of him for your niece.

I got a copy of Regretting You, too, and I hope we both love it! :)
