Stacking the Shelves #188

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
I felt like I just didn't have enough time to get anything done this week.  Last Saturday, we had a 9 hour round trip in the car to go to my niece's wedding celebration.  I am glad that I went but the trip took about 12 hours total and completely wore me and my husband out.  I think we have just been moving at a slower speed all week.

I haven't been able to read too much this week.  I have several books going and have made a little bit of progress on each but I really need to crank things up a notch!  The only exception would be audiobooks.  Since I am able to listen at work, I am still making progress with audiobooks.

Piper turned 4 months old this week.  She is so full of energy and is wearing me out!  She runs around the house like a wild woman every night.  Our other two dogs, Stella and Molly are no longer shy about playing with her - probably because she is much bigger now!  I promised Barb that I would share a pic this week.  She doesn't sit still for long so this was the best I could do.

Our plans for this weekend are to relax as much as we can and hopefully get some reading done.  My daughter's college marching band is going to be performing about an hour from my house this weekend so we are looking forward to seeing them in action. I think my daughter looks good in her college marching band uniform!

Books Added
When the Marquess Was Mine by Caroline Linden (Edelweiss)

I have been in the mood for a historical romance lately so I decided to pick this one up to review.  I haven't read Caroline Linden yet but the premise of this book sounds great.

The Other People by C.J. Tudor (Publisher)

I am very excited to get my hands on this early copy of C.J. Tudor's upcoming novel, The Other People.  I loved The Chalk Man and hope that I will have similar luck with this one.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. Your daughter definitely looks fantastic in her uniform! And sometimes we just have those slow weeks where we are tired and need a bit of a break. No worries about that at all! Hope you have a productive reading week up ahead :D

  2. Wow. That is a long drive! Although...I probably do just under 9 when I go up to the Naperville area for signings. It's a little over 4.5 hours one way, so yeah...9ish! It does make for an exhausting day! Aww Piper!! And your daughter looks so pretty in her uniform! I guess its college when you get the nice color combos! I remember hating the purple and white of North and then I went to Maryville and had a nice black and red with white combo going on! Lol.

Nice new reads! They're new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all! Rest easy this weekend!

My StS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

    1. Though as I look back at that comment my math is off this morning! Lol! If it's just over 4.5 hours then it might be a little over 9! Depending on how much I may or may not speed. I try not to speed speed though. :)

  3. I'm with you on the not feeling like I got anything done. I hate the feeling I am behind on my ARCs and I'm scrambling to catch up. I loved marching band in high school and college. That's a good looking uniform! I hope your week is much more relaxing and enjoy your new reads.

  4. Yeah, long trips wear me out for a few days after, too. Your puppy looks good, but whew, they can be a challenge. Love the uniform on your daughter, too.

Hopefully this week will be easier and you can delve into your books more. :)

  6. I love your daughters uniform! She looks so happy in that photo too :) Phew, I had a drive like that last weekend and another coming up a few weekends from now. It's amazing how much sitting in a car can totally wipe you out!! I hope you guys have plenty of time to relax and recoup!

  7. Piper is so cute! Nothing like a pup to inject so much energy into the house. Your daughter looks amazing in her new uniform. I think it's wonderful, that she is still playing in college.

  8. Piper is getting so big already I can hardly believe it! I very much enjoyed the Chalk Man and I also hope I like more by the author!

  9. I look forward to weekends, but when weekends come, it goes by like a speeding train. It sucks, because it doesn't feel like we have enough time. Sigh.

anyway, I hope your week will be less hectic so you can go back to reading. Lol.

  10. Piper is getting so big! I do not miss that puppy energy -- phew! It's exhausting. Is she teething yet? Chewing on furniture or shoes? That's the worst. That and potty training! Good luck! :)

  11. Those long road trips really do eat up a lot of time and take a lot out of you. It sounds like a worthwhile trip though. Piper is so adorable. Puppies are so much work, aren't they? So full of energy! They are worth it though, even when we don't always feel that way in the moment. Haha. I am glad you were able to see your daughter perform in the college marching band. She does look great in her uniform. The Other People looks so good! I hope you have a great week, Carole. Enjoy your reading!

  12. Your daughter is beautiful and looks so snazzy in her band uniform. Thanks for the Piper pic - she's so cute. I bet she is a handful though - what healthy puppy isn't? She just looks ornery. I really miss puppy breath and maybe we will add one after the holidays. Hope you and your husband can slow down and rest some this week!

  13. Your daughter looks great! I love puppies, but I don’t miss having one in the house. They’re little terrors. I hope you’re having a good week.

  14. That is a long drive! My husband and I did a long one like that on our way back home from a road-trip vacation. It helped that we were listening to an audio book, but still, it does wear you out.

Piper is adorable! Glad to hear she's fitting right in with your older dogs. Hope you get some rest this week. :)

  15. Weddings can be tiring just themselves, I can't imagine traveling that far without staying overnight! I hope you were able to rest up. 😴

    Piper is too cute. 🐶

I love your daughter's band uniform. I wish my son still performed. His major in high school was Music, but after deciding he didn't want to be a music teacher during his first year of college, he dropped doing everything with music. I miss going to his concerts. 🎼

I hope your week was good. I am really behind in commenting! 🌞
