Stacking the Shelves #183

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
What a week!  Last Saturday, My daughter and I went to a joint baby shower and bridal shower for two of my nieces.  We then went out to dinner with some family to celebrate my daughter's upcoming birthday.  On Sunday we took my daughter to college and I was not expecting the experience to be so much work.  Dorm furniture is heavy and it was hard to move due to a lack of space but we got it done.
My daughter's 19th birthday was Wednesday and I was a little sad that I wouldn't be able to see her on her special day.  I guess fate had other ideas because she called me about an hour after I got to work to tell me that the window on her car had been busted out so I took an unplanned trip to pick up the car so that it can be fixed.  I only got to see her for a minute but I was able to sing Happy Birthday in person like I have every other year so that made me happy.
Piper, our puppy, has been keeping us busy at home.  She really is growing quickly and is learning what is expected of her.  She turned 3 months old this week.

Books Added
The Babysitters Coven by Kate Williams (Publisher)

Rookie Move by Sarina Bowen (Purchased)

  2. Aw, that's so nice that you got to see your daughter on her birthday after all (despite having to deal with the busted window). I grabbed Rookie Move this week, too! :)

  3. As bad as it was, I guess it's a blessing in disguise that your daughter's car got broken into. Happy Birthday to her! :)

I enjoyed Rookie Move. I hope you will, too!

  4. Aww, sorry to hear that her car window was busted and on her birthday! But at least you got to see her on her birthday! And aww! Look at Piper!! She definitely knows how to stay cool in St. Louis!! One of our older dogs used to do this too!

Nice new reads! New to me ones but I hope you enjoy them both!

My StS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

  6. Shari just saw her daughter off to college, too. Yay for a birthday wish even if it happened for a sad reason. :) Fun that you got to be with family last weekend.

I was thinking about getting Rookie Move b/c I like that series and missed that one, but got distracted by two others instead.

    Have a good week, Carole!

  7. So many going off to college right now. Aside from the broken window, it's nice you got to sing Happy Birthday to your daughter in person. And Piper sure is growing fast!

  8. Bringing my daughter to college was like the saddest day of the year for four years. ((HUG)) I haven't seen my daughter for her birthday since she turned 18 (so, 6 years). It's so hard. I hope you like Rookie Move. I am a fan of all Bowen's series.

  9. Piper is so cute! I hope your daughter enjoys her college years. I remember moving into the dorm for the first time (oye, that was a long time ago!). Happy belated birthday to her!

The Babysitters Coven looks like something I would like. I hope you love it. It reminds me a bit of that show my daughter likes: My Babysitter is a Vampire.

I hope you have a great week, Carole.

  14. I only lived in a dorm for a few weeks, but I’m very happy the room came with furniture. I can’t imagine trying to cram my own stuff in there. I’m glad the puppy is doing well and you got to see your daughter. Have a good week!

  15. I'm so glad you got to see your daughter even for a sad reason. Our Lulu is older, a rescue but we are enjoying her. I admire your ability to handle a puppy. I hope this week is quiet and relaxed for a change! And you find some great books!

  19. College! I cannot even imagine how emotional that must have been for you. My son started Kindergarten this year and I'm still adjusting. It's so weird not having him home every day. I'm sure you need a vacation after lugging all that furniture around. ;)

  20. Ah, I remember dorm life...and I remember hating dorm life. I refer to my Freshman year in college as the year I loved in a box. That's horrible about her car window. I remember I had to park my car 7 blocks away from my dorm. It stunk. Piper is looking so adorable and growing so fast. Hope you have plenty of books lined up to help with your empty nest.

  21. Dorm furniture is seriously heavy stuff! Glad you were able to see your daughter on her birthday but what an awful reason! I hope she's enjoying getting settled at school. Piper is beyond adorable and looks lie she's a handful - but a fun one! Have a great week!
