Stacking the Shelves #181

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
This has been a hard week.  I have been dealing with quite a bit of grief from both my uncle's death and Grace from Rebel Mommy Book Blog.  I did get to see a lot of relatives at my uncle's memorial service on Tuesday but it has been a rather draining week.  My husband's mother is suffering from dementia and needs to have someone stay with her overnight so he was gone for a couple of nights this week to be with her.
Our puppy, Piper, is now 11 weeks old.  She is busy all the time and is keeping us on our toes.  She is fitting in with the other dogs much better even though she does get on their nerves from time to time.  We are still working on sleeping through the night and trying not to have any accidents in the house.  Have I said that puppies are a lot of work?!

I only have my daughter home for one more week!  I know that she will be back to visit but things are going to feel very different around here once she leaves.  Right now, our house is crazy since she is packing her things and trying to figure out everything she will need at school.  We have one last shopping trip this weekend to get a few more items that she will need.

Books Added
Outfox by Sandra Brown (Publisher)
The Good Luck Girls by Charlotte Nicole Davis (Bookish First)

Never Have I Ever by Lauren Blakely (For Review)
Rockaway Bride by Pippa Grant (For Review)

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. Oh Piper, I do not miss kitten days in a way, lol, and in a way I do

  2. I'm sorry to hear about all you're dealing with. :( It's hard but I hope it gets better soon. I got an email about the Lauren Blake audio book and I was tempted, but I decided to pass. I'm trying hard to take a giant step away from arcs/review backs and just read from my own shelves for a while. I miss that!

  4. Sorry to hear that things are still pretty tough. I know I'm dealing with my own level of stress that just seems never-ending. Glad your daughter is getting excited about school! Tax free weekend for us this weekend! I'll be headed out today to see if I need any clothes...maybe notebooks or some other stuff like that. Good on a computer though! Lol.

Nice new reads! Those are new to me ones! I hope you enjoy them all!

My StS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

  6. Sorry to hear about your uncle. Your puppy looks cute! We have a young stray dog at our house and she gives our other outdoor dogs fits...lol. She don't understand they are old and don't want to play. :)

Hope your having a great week!

  8. Love the picture of the dog playing. Good luck puppy training. It's like having a newborn again. I hope the move to school goes smoothly, and I am sending you hugs in advance. I cried when I left my daughter at school the first time, though, I think leaving her in Chicago was worse.

  10. I'm sorry you're having a rough week! I hope things get better soon. I'm sure Piper is a welcome distraction, even if her antics annoy the older dogs occasionally.

I'm curious about The Good Luck Girls, so I'll be looking for your review!

  11. Sorry to hear that you're having a difficult time now, I hope things start looking up for you soon. Piper is such a cutie... oh yes, puppies are a lot of work, but it's so worth it.

I'm looking forward to what your thoughts are on Never Have I. Take care and I hope you have a nice week ahead.

  13. I am so sorry for your uncle's death, Carole. And for Grace. That one hit the book community hard, I know. Piper is so adorable. I remember how much work puppies can be. They are so much fun, but can be frustrating too. I hope your daughter and you enjoy this week together before she heads off to school. I wish her all the best this school year. I hope you enjoy all your new books. The Good Luck Girls, especially appeals to me. I hope you have a great week, Carole!

  15. I know we'll be getting a puppy eventually so you are reminding me how much work they can be. But think of all the joy as well right. Cass is enjoying being spoiled right now though. I wish you daughter all the best as she starts this next chapter. Again, so sorry for you loss.

  16. Ah, I can see how things have definitely been up and down. Funerals are very bittersweet, it's a sad occasion and everyone is in mourning but you also get to sometimes see family you haven't seen in quite a while.
