Stacking the Shelves #173

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
So much has happened since my last Stacking the Shelves post.  My sister was in town for Memorial Day weekend.  My daughter graduated from high school on May 28, 2019.
She had to be at rehearsal every evening for the rest of the week with performances Friday and Saturday nights.  We didn't seem to stop for even a minute last weekend.

On Tuesday of this week, I went with my daughter to her college for orientation and she registered for all of her classes.  This college thing is really happening.
The next day, things took a turn.  I received a call from my daughter after she was rear-ended on the highway.  It was a very scary moment.  My daughter is okay which is the most important thing. There were 4 cars in the accident and my van was in the middle of it all with front and rear damage.  My van is most likely totaled so we are down a car.  Since my husband just started his job last week after being unemployed for 2 months, I am not sure when I will be able to replace it.
I am sorry that I am still having trouble spending a lot of time with the blog.  I keep thinking that things will slow down for me and I do hope they will soon.  I have a feeling that I will be spending a lot of time dealing with insurance next week but hopefully, things will slow down soon.

Books Added
Home for Erring and Outcast Girls by Julie Kibler (Publisher)
The Girl in Red by Christina Henry (Publisher)

Molly decided it was her turn to help show off the new books this week.  I can't wait to get started with these!

Superfan by Sarina Bowen (Author/Publicist)
The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez (NetGalley)

The Loudest Silence by Kate L. Mary (Audiobook Boom)

I have already read and reviewed this one and I really enjoyed it.  I will be looking for the next book in the series very soon.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  1. Oh man. Good news and bad news. Congrats to your daughter for graduating and starting college, but bummer about the car accident. So glad she's okay!

Nice new reads too! I just read The Girl in Red this week and loved it! It's different, yet that's one of the reasons why I love Christina's books! Happy Reading!

My StS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

    Old Follower :)

  2. Yay for the visit and the graduation festivities, but man, bummer about the car even while thankful daughter is safe.
Lovely little haul. I want to read the Christina Henry book, too.

Wishing you a better week, Carole!

  3. Sorry to hear about your van but I'm glad everyone is alright.

  4. Congrats on your daughter graduating and and college orientation, but man that sucks about the car especially with the money crunch you are in right now. Hope you can get things figured out. Great haul! I am currently reading The Girl In Red and it's different but okay. :)

  5. Wow, hectic week. It's just always stuff happening. I'd say I hope you get some quiet weeks but unlikely, as life just keeps going. Mostly, you have to realize you have the skills to deal with everything, one step at a time. Good luck! I do hope it is a better week ahead.

  6. Oh no! I am glad it was nothing worse!

  7. Glad your daughter wasn't hurt. It is never fun to have a car wreck. Such a pain, whether they total the car or not.

  8. Sorry about the van, but so glad your daughter is okay!

  9. Congratulations to your daughter! But sorry to hear about the accident. Glad she wasn't hurt. Those things can be scary, for sure, especially on the highway and multiple cars. Hope all the insurance stuff goes smoothly.

The Girl in Red looks awesome and I saw a really good review last week- I think I'm going to get that one!

Hope you have a good week Carole!

  10. Some intriguing books for you. Happy reading!

  11. glad she wasn't hurt, can never replace a life. But since she's stuck in the middle, someone would have to be forking repair fees right?

    1. They won't be repairing the van. They will be giving me a check for what they determine the van is worth. The problem is that I won't be getting enough to actually go and replace the car. We bought the car new and planned to drive it for a very long time. My daughter's safety was the most important thing but it upsetting to have a vehicle that we paid a lot of money for taken away and we will only be reimbursed what someone else determines is a fair price.

  12. I'm so glad that your daughter wasn't hurt but she must have had quite a fright. It does seem unfair that you won't get the true value of the van. It really has been a tough time for you recently and I hope it gets better.

  13. First off, I am really happy for your daughter going into college. Such a exciting time. Sorry to hear about your vehicle though. Many prayers going your way this week. I have slowed down a bit blog wise, but mostly because I am just trying to be more balanced and I am becoming addicted to certain podcasts so I blame them hehe

  14. Oh, car accidents are such a headache! Happy to hear that your daughter wasn't injured, though!

I'm one behind on the Bruisers series. Must catch up soon. :)

  15. So sorry to hear about your van. I am happy your daughter came away safely, though. Hang in there, Carole! XOXO

  16. I am sorry about the van, but so glad to hear your daughter is okay. How scary for her! It always seems like when it rains it pours when it comes to financial issues, doesn't it? Good luck dealing with the insurance company. I hope everything goes smoothly for you.

Congratulations to your daughter on her graduation and college orientation. So many changes!

I hope you enjoy all your new books. I am excited about Henry's new book. It sounds so good. Give Molly a pet for me. :-)

Have a much better week, Carole!

  17. The Girl in Red was AMAZING! I hope you love it as much as I did. Also, a college graduate?? Congrats! My son stats school in the fall and I'm freaking out. My baby! Haha.

  18. Congratulations to your daughter, but that sucks about the car. I’m glad your daughter is okay. Hopefully you get a chance to relax soon!

  19. I'm so glad your daughter wasn't hurt. There are so many hurdles dealing with the insurance when something like that happens. It's excited that she already signed up for classes though. Molly is an excellent model - Cass won't hold still. Great picture and I am hoping you find some time to relax somehow!

  20. i get that blogging sometimes takes a backseat, so no worries. i will be sticking with you. guess we gotta take the good with the bad.

  21. Congratulations to your daughter for graduating and also for getting to the orientation and getting everything started there. I am SO glad to hear that she is safe after being rear ended and am sorry it happened :/ Hopefully things will come together for replacing it whenever possible. Don't worry about the blog stuff! Life has been on the go 24/7 for you.
