Books from the Backlog #65

Books from the Backlog is a fun way to feature some of those neglected books sitting on your bookshelf unread.  If you are anything like me, you might be surprised by some of the unread books hiding in your stacks.

If you would like to join in, please feel free to enter your link and link back to this post, then spend some time visiting some of the other posts.

This week's neglected book

Fantasy Lover by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Publication Date: February 18, 2002
Publisher: St. Martin's Press
Dear Reader,

Being trapped in a bedroom with a woman is a grand thing. Being trapped in hundreds of bedrooms over two thousand years isn't. And being cursed into a book as a love-slave for eternity can ruin even a Spartan warrior's day.

As a love-slave, I know everything about women. How to touch them, how to savor them, and most of all, how to pleasure them. But when I was summoned to fulfill Grace Alexander's sexual fantasies, I found the first woman in history who saw me as a man with a tormented past. She alone bothered to take me out of the bedroom and onto the world. She taught me to love again.

But I was not born to love. I was cursed to walk eternity alone. As a general, I had long ago accepted my sentence. Yet now I have found Grace--the one thing my wounded heart cannot survive without. Sure, love can heal all wounds, but can it break a two-thousand-year-old curse?

Why did I add Fantasy Lover to my bookshelf?

I decided to feature this book today because I was recently reading some of the reports of the things going on in this author's personal life and it hit me that although I own a ton of her books, I haven't read any of them.  I bought Fantasy Lover for my Kindle back in June 2011.  That means that I have had eight years to get to this book and haven't been able to do it yet.  It does sound like my kind of story so hopefully I can work it in before another 8 years go by!

What are your thoughts? Have you read this book?  Would you recommend it to others?

  1. I've read a few of her books but to be honest, got kind of overwhelmed that the series was starting to get so long. I'm sure I have several on my shelves I've forgotten all about!

  11. oh I loved this book and this series up to about Archeron's book. Then things kind of went off for me. It is PNR so each book has a new couple although you might know of them from the previous book. There is a bit of connected-ness throughout as the characters often know each other and turn up sometimes in later books. Of course there are some characters I don't like. I've read about 20 of these. Anne - Books of My Heart
