Stacking the Shelves #165

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
Things are a bit better this week.  I think that I had to take some time just to get over the shock of my husband's sudden job loss.  My husband is working hard to find a new job and a couple of possibilities look rather good.  We are keeping our fingers crossed.

This weekend my daughter is off to New Orleans with her high school band.  My husband went as one of the chaperones.  We had already signed up for the trip and paid for everything before our situation changed.  I do hope that they are having a good time.  I got the job of staying home to take care of our 3 dogs.  My only other plans for the weekend are to finish watching Game of Thrones and get as much reading done as possible since I have fallen way behind.

Books Added

How It Feels to Float by Helena Fox (Bookish First)

If You Want to Make God Laugh by Bianca Marais (NetGalley)
Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik (Audible Purchase)
The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden (Audible Purchase)

What books do you add to your shelves this week?

  12. I am so sorry to hear about your husband's job loss, Carole. I know how difficult that can be, having had to go through that before only a few years ago. I hope he is able to find something soon. I know what a stress it can be financially, not to mention emotionally on everyone in the family.

I hope your daughter and husband have a good time in New Orleans and that the band does well. A weekend to yourself sounds nice, actually.

I have The Bear and the Nightingale and Spinning Silver on my TBR stack as well. Both sound so good, don't they? I hope you enjoy all your new books.

I am thinking of you, Carole, and hope you have a good week.

  13. Good luck on that job search for your husband. Have a great week.

  16. Oh I'm so glad your husband and daughter got to go to New Orleans! I hope they're having a wonderful time and that you're having some wonderful time on your own! Fingers crossed on the good possibilities. I hope they'll pan out and be better than the situation he had before. I have The Bear and the Nightingale on Audible too and I'm really looking forward to listening to it!

  17. Fingers crossed on the job front and I hope your daughter enjoys her time in New Orleans with the band! And yay for those new audiobooks. I have been thinking about maybe trying Spinning Silver even though I wasn't a huge fan of Uprooted DD:
