Stacking the Shelves #145

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
We had snow this week.  On Monday, my boss let everyone go home early because of the snow.  I live 3 miles from the office so traffic wasn't an issue for me but I was happy to go home an hour early.  Thursday ended up being the first snow day of the school year for my daughter.  I did go to work and the roads really weren't bad at all.  The bad news is that I must have injured myself while I was cleaning off the car to get to the office because I am feeling like I did right after having surgery.

I was able to get some reading done this week since most of our plans were canceled due to the snow.  I was happy to be able to stay home in my comfy clothes curled up with my Kindle.  I have been participating in the HoHoHo Readathon and have worked my way through 6 titles this week.  Most have been shorter reads but I am happy to get through so many.  I am trying to finish up another audiobook before the event ends on Sunday.

Books Added

The Winter of the Witch by Katherine Arden (NetGalley)
A Dangerous Collaboration by Deanna Raybourn (NetGalley)
You'd Be Mine by Erin Hahn (NetGalley)
Little Darlings by Melanie Golding (NetGalley)
Long Road to Mercy by David Baldacci (Publisher)
Dread Nation by Justina Ireland (Audible Purchase)
In Flames by Jessica Jayne (For Review)
Memory Man by David Baldacci (Audible Purchase)
Devil in Winter by Lisa Kleypas (Audible Purchase)
Patient Zero by Jonathan Maberry (Kindle Purchase)
Logan by Linda Lael Miller (Kindle Purchase)
Pines by Blake Crouch (Kindle Freebie)
Jackaby by William Ritter (Kindle Freebie)
Rough Rider by Victoria Vane (Kindle Freebie)

I am thrilled to have an early copy of The Winter of the Witch and can't wait to read it.  I do enjoy the Veronica Speedwell series so I couldn't resist A Dangerous Collaboration.  I have seen some great reviews for You'd Be Mine and Little Darlings so I decided to add both of them to my review pile as well.  I enjoy David Baldacci's writing and I am looking forward to reading Long Road to Mercy.  I grabbed Dread Nation for $3.95 when it was the Audible Daily Deal and picked up Memory Man and Devil in Winter during the 2 for 1 sale.  I also added In Flames to the review pile.  I caught Patient Zero and Logan on sale at Amazon for $1.99 each and decided to add them to my ever-growing library.  I got pretty lucky with some freebies this week as well and was happy to add Pine, Jackaby, and Rough Rider to my collection.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?

  1. Sniff, we never have snow days, but then if we had then we would not go to school for months, lol.

But oh no on the injury!

    1. Very true! We don't know what to do with snow around here!

  2. Oh no, that's the last thing you needed. I hope you haven't done yourself some serious damage. That operation seems to have been a nightmare to try and recover from. We haven't had snow here yet and it has been pretty mild overall but next week is supposed to be cold. Typical when we have a few upcoming appointments with health people-I just want to hibernate until March!

  3. I miss snow days...the ones where you get off from school/work! Lol. Didn't have that myself on Thursday. It was a harrowing drive to work to say the least. I miss my work being closer to home where I didn't have to get on the highway, now I do! It's still a relatively short drive but nothing will ever compare to my less than 10 min one! Lol

Nice new reads too! See quite a few new to me ones and a few that are in my TBR pile! Hope you enjoy them all and complete your challenge for the weekend!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

    1. I didn't get the day off either. My commute is short though so it wasn't too bad for me.

  4. Wow, a snow day already? I live in a place that gets tons of snow, so we hardly ever have snow days. I guess everybody is just expected to deal with the snow. I hope you like Dread Nation! It’s a fun read.

  5. We had three days of snow, but it didn't accumulate. Wow, a snow day! Sorry you were reinjured cleaning it off the car.

Great haul! I'm so envious over the Veronica Speedwell. For some reason, I never get picked for that series. :) Hope you like Jacoby and Rough Rider.
Yay for finishing 6 for HoHOHoRAT.

    Have a great weekend, Carole.

  8. Looks like you and I both added a lot of books to our shelves. Honestly, mine were old requests, that were finally answered, but they were great ones. Snowed in NJ too. Totally crippled us. The snow was coming up from the south, so it sort of followed me home. Glad you weren't too hampered by it.

  11. Snow day's are the best. The local school had one last week, I think it was due more to the wind chill, because there wasn't much snow on the ground. Great books you added this week, I hope you enjoy them all.

  15. How much snow did you guys get? We had our first snow last week but it was only a dusting. Friday and Saturday were pretty heavy snow days but it all melted. I have a feeling this winter might require me to telecommute some days.

    1. We probably had around 5 inches. It all melted as the temperatures warmed up though so it was a short lived problem.

  16. I hope you are able to rest up this weekend and the upcoming week and aren't still hurting.

You got many books I want. I just requested Winter of the Witch but I really want it on audio, since that is how I have read the first two. I strongly considered Dread Nation but it is available at the library so I decided no for now. It is so hard, but I have lots of things I have purchased and not yet read. I see they have another sale at audible this week, expected with Black Friday and all, but I haven't even looked at it yet. Anne - Books of My Heart

  18. That's great you were able to leave work early, even if you didn't need to. Looks like you got a lot of reading done, which is awesome. I'm hoping to read a lot over Thanksgiving, but then I'm out of town next week so I'm sure I won't really be reading at all. I've owned Jackaby for awhile now - I need to read that!

  19. Sounds like a great week for reading but I am sorry you injured yourself. We have to deal with snow and ice now through March/April. It makes me want to hibernate!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about your injury. I'm hoping that it's just aggravated and will feel better with some rest. I'm not a fan of snow or ice and am so glad it's not something we have to deal with here. When it does show up I refuse to leave the house! I'm so curious about the Deanna Raybourn book. I loved the first one and would really like to continue with it. Devil in Winter is one of my absolute favorite romances and I hope you enjoy it. Have a great week!

  21. I have the first three books of the Veronica Speedwell series, I just got them and now I need to read them! Glad to hear you're enjoying the series. I want to read the first book at least before requesting the newest. No point if I don't click with the series. I read David Baldacci's Camel Club series and I remember loving it back before Goodreads, but that's been a long time. I've recently listened to his Will Robie series and it's amazing! I'll have to check out his newest release. Hope you like it. Patient Zero sounds interesting.

Sorry to hear you may have injured yourself. Hope you get some rest and relaxation with the coming holiday! :)
