Stacking the Shelves #142

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
Guess what?!  This was another busy week for me.  I must say that I am a little tired of being so busy all of the time.  On Wednesday, we had my daughter's band concert where she performed with 3 different groups.  Thursday night we celebrated my mom's birthday with the whole family.  On Friday night, we were at the high school football game for the first round of playoffs.  It is getting really cold to sit in the bleachers for some of the games but I don't want to miss my daughter's last time performing with the marching band.  At this point, we have no idea when marching band season will end but they will keep playing as long as the football team keeps winning.

This should be a rather calm weekend which is a very good thing since I have a lot of things around the house and on the blog to work on.  I hope to get some reading done as well.  I haven't picked up a book since Tuesday and I am not happy about that.

Books Added

Watcher in the Woods by Kelley Armstrong (NetGalley)
Erik by Sawyer Bennett (NetGalley)
The Hiding Place by C.J. Tudor (NetGalley)
Joyland by Stephen King (Kindle Purchase)
Daughters of the Lake by Wendy Webb (Kindle First Reads)

I am a really big fan of Kelley Armstrong's Rockton series so I was thrilled to be able to grab a copy of Watcher in the Woods from NetGalley this week.  I also love Sawyer Bennett's hockey romances so I am looking forward to reading Erik this weekend.  I loved The Chalk Man by C.J. Tudor and am looking forward to reading her upcoming book, The Hiding Place.  I have only read a handful of King novels but I couldn't resist picking up Joyland when I saw it offered for $0.99 this week.  I had a hard time deciding which book to pick for October's First Read pick but I finally made the choice to go with Daughters of the Lake since it seems to have quite a few positive reviews.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

    1. I have had some pretty cold moments sitting at games. Last year we were being pelted by ice for an entire game.

  13. Busy is a two edged sword. Last Monday it was great I accomplished lots. But it also can be frustrating if all you do is work, go to appointments or activities without any downtime. I hope you get more reading time, even if the activities are fun.

I was thrilled to get the Kelley Armstrong book also. Anne - Books of My Heart

  14. I hope things calm down for you soon, Carole--even if at least a little so you can breathe before it picks up again. I do enjoy hearing about your daughter and what she's up to though. :-) Hopefully this weekend was more calm for you and you were able to get in some reading. Watcher in the Woods caught my eye of your new books, but they all sound good. I hope you enjoy them all, Carole! Have a wonderful week.

  19. You sound just like me with my daughter. I don't know when the last game will be because they made the playoffs. But yes it's freezing in those bleachers. BURRR. But, this is her last year and I don't want to miss it. Plus I love the band.

    1. We are in exactly the same boat it sounds like. I did learn that our team has at least one away game so it is possible that they have had their last performance this week. We shall see!

  21. Oh gosh, watching any type of sport or event in the cold would definitely be tough, but I'm sure your daughter loves you there too!! I'm really curious about The Hiding Place; I loved The Chalk Man too.

  23. I really do hope you are able to have a bit more of a relaxing week coming up next because when you're always on the go it can be quite difficult. We all need to rest and relax sometimes. I hope you enjoyed celebrating your mother's birthday though ^.^

  24. A good looking selection this week. Glad the football team keeps winning, but maybe you need to buy yourself a snowsuit to keep warm watching!
