Books from the Backlog #30

Books from the Backlog is a fun way to feature some of those neglected books sitting on your bookshelf unread.  If you are anything like me, you might be surprised by some of the unread books hiding in your stacks.

If you would like to join in, please feel free to enter your link and link back to this post, then spend some time visiting some of the other posts.

This week's neglected book

Blue Diablo by Ann Aguirre

Series: Corine Solomon #1
Publication Date: April 7, 2009
Publisher: Roc
"Right now, I’m a redhead. I’ve been blonde and brunette as the situation requires, though an unscheduled color change usually means relocating in the middle of the night. So far, I’m doing well here. Nobody knows what I’m running from. And I’d like to keep it that way…"

Eighteen months ago, Corine Solomon crossed the border and wound up in Mexico City, fleeing her past, her lover, and her “gift”. Corine, a handler, can touch something and know its history—and sometimes, its future. Using her ability, she can find the missing—and that’s why people never stop trying to find her. People like her ex, Chance…

Chance, whose uncanny luck has led him to her doorstep, needs her help. Someone dear to them both has gone missing in Laredo, Texas, and the only hope of finding her is through Corine’s gift. But their search may prove dangerous as the trail leads them into a strange dark world of demons and sorcerers, ghosts and witchcraft, zombies—and black magic…

Why did I add Blue Diablo to my bookshelf?

I remember being really excited to find the first four books in the Corine Solomon series at a local book fair.  All four of the books have been keeping each other company on my bookshelf since that day.  I do like Ann Aguirre and like the sound of this book.  I just have to find the time to get it read.

What are your thoughts? Have you read this book?  Would you recommend it to others?

  2. After adding your link does everybody skip the step about tweeting it? Maybe more people need to know about this meme. So anyway I haven't heard of this title maybe there is a reason for that lol. Idk obviously. It might be really good.

    1. It is a relatively new meme. I am having fun with it and I hope others are as well. I hope more bloggers do join in. It is a fun way to find new books and meet new bloggers.

I do hope that this series is a good one. I think I paid $2 for 4 books so it was worth the gamble :)

  3. Sorry to say but I've never heard of Ann Aguirre. Since you do have all four books, you should probably read the first one to see if you would like to continue with the series.

    1. That happens to me all the time. I like that I can go back and read my reviews for books that I have read in the past couple of years. That helps jog my memory!

  11. I tried reading this one way back in 2011. I wrote a very short review as I DNFed it. According to what I wrote, I found the writing ok but it didn't grab me and I didn't like the male MC! Hope you have a better time with it!

  13. I've seen this author but not this series. I'm with Sophia Rose - I want it! I can't do this meme unless it is actually READING a book from my backlog.

I know when I purchase a book I am MUCH less likely to read it because I have ARCs I've committed to reading and library books with a due date. Plus I own then so I know I can read them. So I have to work really hard to schedule or fit them in right away or I forget them. Anne - Books of My Heart

    1. My goal is to actually try to read some of the books that I feature. I am so buried in ARCs that it may not happen for a while but this is my way of reminding myself of all the books that I own and need to read. It is helping me not take on so many review books so that hopefully I can start reading these books!
