I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality.
My Life
This was a calmer week but I still had a hard time keeping up with things. Last weekend, I just relaxed around the house and binged season 3 of Game of Thrones which was a nice change of pace. Marching Band is in full swing and my daughter and husband spent some time up at the school practicing and working on props. I am still not able to pick up more than 10 pounds so I stayed home with my 3 dogs who are my favorite children anyway :)
The first football game was last night. It is fun to watch my daughter lead the band as one of the drum majors. We only have 4 more regular season home games and high school marching band will be over for my daughter. It is kind of weird to realize that this will be the last year for everything.
I am home alone with the dogs once again for much of today while my husband and daughter go to an IndyCar race. I hope to relax, work on the blog, and do a bit of reading. I do have some commenting to catch up on once again and plan to dedicate some time to that as well.

Books Added
All Systems Red by Martha Wells (Won @ Books of My Heart)
Under Control by Shannon Stacey (NetGalley)
Tear It Down by Nick Petrie (NetGalley)
I was really excited to get the email from Anne @ Books of My Heart that I had won a copy of All Systems Red. I feel like I have been seeing this series everywhere for a while so I am exited to get a chance to give it a try. It has been a while since I last read Shannon Stacey but I used to love her books so I am looking forward to reading Under Control. Tear It Down is the upcoming fourth novel in the Peter Ash series which I really enjoy. I can't wait to see what kind of trouble Peter will find himself in this time.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!
Oh yes I have heard that Wells series is great! I await your judgement
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get started with that series!
DeleteOoh Murderbot! I really enjoyed the first two books and I'm considering buying a hard copy of them. I'm glad to hear that you're taking it easy and on the mend. Cuddling your dogs sounds like a good way to relax!
ReplyDeleteMy dogs have done a great job watching over me these past few weeks!
DeleteGlad you're feeling better! Slowly but surely, always takes time! Nice new reads! Totally new to me ones but I hope you enjoy them all!
ReplyDeleteAnd omg, you're reading Fury! That one was an awesome read and yet I am still reeling over its events and the fact that it's over!! Eep!!
My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
Thanks, Jessica! I just finished Fury and wow is all that I can think to say.
DeleteHave fun relaxing! You’re always so busy. Enjoy your new books.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I keep telling my husband that I could get more done if I didn't have to go to the silly job. He tells me to go to work. I will keep trying to be less busy :)
DeleteSounds like you had a relaxing week which is good when still recooping! Hope you have been getting in some good reads. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend,
Stormi
I am trying to go at a bit slower of a pace. I do still get tired easily.
DeleteHope you get some reading done and enjoy your books. I do enjoy Shannon Stacey. I bought The Kiss Quotient and the new Lorraine Heath novel.
ReplyDeleteIt has been a while since I last read Stacey but I am looking forward to this one.
DeleteAh, tough to do all the 'lasts' I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteOh, I can't wait to get your thoughts on that Martha Wells book. I've seen it about and it looks good.
Have a good weekend, Carole!
It is a year of lasts. I am not really sad about it but it is strange that things are winding down.
DeleteGlad to hear you have a little time to yourself. Happy reading.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteCongrats on the win! Time to yourself is always good.
ReplyDeleteVery true!
DeleteOoh Game of Thrones binges are fun. :) And I can relate to the marching band fun- same here! It goes by quick! Hope you love All systems Red! It's fun!
ReplyDeleteI should be all caught up with GOT by the time the next season starts. I am enjoying it. It is hard to believe that this time next year I will be shipping my daughter off to college. Time moves so quickly.
DeleteI'm also excited to hear your thoughts on All Systems Red. It's a short, easy read. I LOVE Murderbot. I just listened to the 3rd one. I continue to love it on audio. I also have Under Control on audio and will start probably later this week.
ReplyDeleteTake care of your self! Have a great reading week!
Anne - Books of My Heart
I am really excited to get started with All Systems Red but I do have a feeling that I am going to want to read the rest of the books in quick succession. Thanks, Anne!
DeleteCongrats on the Martha Wells win!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteTime sure does fly. My pups are my favorite children too - of course they are my only children :) I have the Murderbot book out from the library right now and read the first chapter but wasn't feeling it. However, I'm pretty sure it was me so I'll be giving it another chance. So many people love it!
ReplyDeleteI am constantly telling my children that the dogs are my favorite kids. Everyone should know where they stand :) Sometimes you have to be in the right mood for a book to work.
DeleteIt's the end of an era. No more band mom-ing. I will admit, at first, I was happy to end my dance mom career, but then I really missed it. Will your daughter join the band in college? I was lucky that my daughter found a dance group, and even choreographed dances for the showcases. So, I got a little fix.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter wants to be a music teacher and love marching band so much that she is really wanting to go to a school that has one. I do still have this school year but I don't really know that I will be missing the constant running.
DeleteEverything sounds so interesting. I might add Under Control to my list. It sounds like you had lots of alone time this week. I know it's probably not enough. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteHere is my Weekend Post
I love time alone. I don't usually get a whole lot of it. I just started Under Control last night but haven't read enough to really know what I think just yet. Thanks, Jackie!
DeleteYay for a calmer week! Hope you got to enjoy your weekend and new reads. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Grace!
Deletei guess you will miss the hustle and bustle of band practice when it is over?
ReplyDeleteI really don't think that I will.
DeleteAlways great to win! the books are new to me. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Melliane!
DeleteCongrats on your win. Hope the book is all you anticipate.
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental Sunday Memes
Thanks, Sherry!
DeleteI really want to read All Systems Red - it sounds great. Congrats on winning a copy!

Thanks, Lauren!
DeleteOh how tragic you had to stay home! I always loved when that happened. That's awesome that your daughter is a drum major! That's quite the responsibility. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI do love it when I get a chance to be home alone. My daughter was drum major last year as well so they are really expecting a lot from her this year. It is a honor really.
DeleteI miss having a dog sometimes. Of course, with our little kitten it is almost like having a puppy. Almost. LOL Time alone sounds so nice! Now that Mouse is back in school, I can have a few hours on Friday to myself, which is nice. Congratulations on your win of All Systems Red! I hope you enjoy it. It sounds like it will be really good. I haven't yet read a Martha Wells book, but she's on my list of authors to try. The other two books sound good too. I hope you have a great week, Carole!
ReplyDeleteI love my dogs but they are so much work! Our last cat was such a bad cat that I don't think we will be having cats again in the future. Just a few hours of alone time can make all of the difference especially with younger children. I am really looking forward to reading the Martha Wells series.
DeleteA little relaxing is wonderful for you. My children tell me that my fur babies are my favorites, I have to laugh. Enjoy your new reads and have a great week ahead.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes tell my kids why dogs are better than kids :)
DeleteI hope that relaxing is helping. I'm sure dogging cuddles help. Congrats on your win. I hope you enjoy all the new books you got.
ReplyDeleteMelanie @ Hot Listens & Books of My Heart
The dogs are always a big help :) Thanks, Melanie!
DeleteI am glad you were able to enjoy Binge watching Game of thrones! I have only seen season 1 of that and you've totally reminded me that I need to get back to watching those D: I hope you enjoy the Martha Wells book. It's on my TBR and all reviews have been positive about it :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to watch more Game of Thrones. I think that the more you watch the more you want to watch.
