Stacking the Shelves #131

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life
I am slowly improving from my surgery.  I made it through an entire work week and seem to be getting a little better every day.  I did take my daughter to her school to get her registered for her senior year.  It is so hard to believe that school starts on Thursday.

I am behind on commenting once again.  I just didn't feel like doing much after working all day so I spent some time lying in bed and reading since that seems to be a more comfortable position for me.  We also had a power outage for a while on Friday so I had no access to my computer.  I do hope to get around to visit everyone over the weeked.

Books Added
Roomies by Christina Lauren (Purchase)
Secret Book - Avon UK (NetGalley)
The Little Shop of Found Things by Paula Brackston (NetGalley)
Virgil Wander by Leif Enger (Bookish First)
Hot Winter Nights by Jill Shalvis (Edelweiss)
The Huntress by Kate Quinn (Edelweiss)

I obviously have no control of myself when adding books to review to my tbr pile based on this week's haul.  I grabbed Roomies on sale since I remember seeing  a lot of great reviews for the book.  I was really curious about the book labeled Can You Keep a Secret? on Netgalley and wanted to be in on the secret.  The Little Shop of Found Things was a book that I came across while browsing NetGalley and I decided to take a chance on it since it was a Read Now. I was shocked to win a copy of Virgil Wander from Bookish First.  I have read Leif Enger before and enjoyed his work so I am looking forward to it.  I can't wait to get started with Hot Winter Nights since Jill Shalvis is always a lot of fun.  Kate Quinn's The Alice Network was a fantastic novel so I am really excited to get my hands on an early copy of her upcoming book, The Huntress.

Dead to Me by Anton Strout
Shadow Heir by Richelle Mead
Not Now, Not Ever by Lily Anderson (ARC)
The Probability of Miracles by Wendy Wunder
Angelopolis by Danielle Trussoni
Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs
Rose Madder by Stephen King
Misery by Stephen King

Last Friday night, my husband, daughter, and I went to a local book fair.  I wasn't really feeling too good that night but my daughter wanted to go and I wasn't all that hard to convince.  My husband was nice enough to come with us since I can't carry anything.  He doesn't read so his entire purpose of being there was to carry books for me.  My pile of books and my daughter's pile totaled $14.50 so I think we did okay.

Second Grave on the Left by Darynda Jones
The Wonder Collection by R.J. Palacio
In Death Series: Books 38-39 by J.D. Robb

I received my final order from Audiobook Stand this week.  I paid $12 for this set of audiobooks and feel pretty good about it even though I am not sure when I will be getting to them.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  3. I'm glad to hear that you're slowly on the mend! I love that you took someone along just to carry the books-wish I could persuade my dad to be bag man!

  6. No worries about visiting around. I missed a bit this week, too, while still out in Utah on vacation.
Nice of you to hit the book fair with your daughter and sweet of your guy to go along as book carrier.
Nice haul of both the hard copies and audios.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Carole.

  7. Good to hear you are on the mend. Wow! Senior year. What a HUGE year for you and your daughter. A book you have to keep a secret is pretty cool. I hope it ends up being great. I want the Shalvis now!!! You are so lucky. Nice haul from the book fair. I loved Not Now, Not Ever, and the Wonder books!!! I read Wonder and the Julian Chapter, and they were both so moving. I hope you love them all.

  9. It's so hard to have them in senior year or actually graduating. I want the Jill Shalvis book but they never chose me on Netgalley. But I have a great relationship with the audio folks so I get things that way. I also got the Darynda Jones book from audiobookstand. You will see tomorrow that I got a huge haul of stuff this week. Almost overwhelming. But all good stuff. I hope you continue to feel better this week. Take care of yourself. Anne _ Books of My Heart

    1. Other parents seem to be kind of sad about all of the lasts but I haven't really felt that. I am just excited about my daughters future and kind of glad that I don't have to do some things again :)

  18. My daughter starts her senior year this year too! =) Hecktic for us and so much to do. We go back on the 27th. So still have a little bit of time left. I am glad to hear you are doing better. I have no control either...I haven't even taken a picture of my book haul from last month that I got at bookoutlet. Plus, I just ordered another one from them. =(

Have a wonderful week and feel better.

  19. So sweet of your husband to just go to the fair to be your porter. My OH would be buying his own books so I'd get no help carrying mine - which is probably for the best!

  20. I'm so glad your feeling better and what an awesome husband! You got some good books for that amount of money. It's so nice that your daughter likes to read as much as you do. I've late visiting blogs this weekend and I had some sinus crud and didn't feel like being on the computer much this weekend. Hope you only continue to get better and better!
