Stacking the Shelves #130

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality.

My Life

The big news this week is that I went back to work on Thursday after being out for the past two weeks.  Working an 8 hour day really took a lot out of me and I spent the rest of the day not feeling too hot.  I am restricted on lifting anything over 10 pounds for the next month but I think that I was just getting up and down and walking through the office too much as well. So on Friday I let everyone know that I was sitting at my desk and am trying to limit how much physical activity I do in a workday.  I am trying to build my strength by walking more and doing more things but I need to slow the pace down a bit.

I do appreciate all of the kind words.  Please be patient with me as I slowly return comments.

Books Added

When It's Right by Victoria Denault (NetGalley)
Nightchaser by Amanda Bouchet (Edelweiss)
Age of Myth by Michael J. Sullivan (Purchase)
Vicious by V.E. Schwab (Purchase)

I decided to download When It's Right from NetGalley after I saw that Sam @ We Live and Breathe Books gave it 4.5 stars.  I loved the last book in the series so that was just the push I needed.  I downloaded Nightchaser from Edelweiss just as soon as I saw it listed.   I really enjoyed Amanda Bouchet's Kingmaker Chronicles so I am looking forward to this new series.  I picked up Age of Myth and Vicious on sale since both books have been on my radar for a while.

Gentleman Nine by Penelope Ward (Purchase)
Embraced at Seaside by Addison Cole (Author)

I picked up Gentleman Nine as an Audible Daily Deal.  It sounds like a book I will enjoy when I am in the mood for a quick steamy romance and the price was right.  I also added Embraced at Seaside for review and have already listened to the first 25% or so.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  2. Glad to hear you're healing well! It does take time! I know that from my early teen years when I had to have surgeries and then the healing process was soooo long. Ugh, trying to carry a backpack with textbooks while on crutches...really hard! Luckily I really only carried it sparingly at that time, there was always someone willing to help me to my next class.

Nice new reads too! I debated about requesting Amanda's new book. I can't remember if I did or not...lol! I still need finish her first trilogy! Hope you enjoy all your lovely new reads!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

    1. I guess I am a bit impatient and just want to feel like my old self now. I am lucky enough to be able to download Sourcebook titles from Edelweiss right away so I grabbed Bouchet's new book as soon as I saw it listed.

  3. I was a bit concerned when you said you were going back to work so soon as this kind of operation can be nasty to heal from. But of course, bills need to be paid and we don't always have the luxury of healing fully before we have to get back. Please be careful not to hurt yourself though!

    1. I didn't have a whole lot of choice in the matter. The doctor cleared me to return to work so I have to go. I am lucky to work for a small family owned company that is letting me take it easy for a while longer.

  4. Be careful at work. I hope you enjoy your new books. I love that edition of Vicious. I want it, but I can’t get it because I already have Vicious, and buying it again seems wasteful. Have a great week.

    1. I bought the ebook of Vicious so I guess the cover will change according to Amazon's whims. It is a nice cover though.

  8. Good idea to take things slow as you come back from your surgery. Oh very nice. Didn't know Bouchet had a new one coming.

  9. So much pressure! I do hope you love When It's Right. I am such a fan of this family, and the romance was great too. I hope you are able to take it easy at work, so you don't undo all the fixing the doctors did. Happy and quick healing!

  11. Yeah don't over do it. Everytime I felt a little better I did too much until I had to listen to everything the Doc said. I am curious about Nightchaser, but I am waiting to see if it comes out on Audio. Have a wonderful week!

    1. The only limitations that the doctor has given me is the lifting restriction. I just know how sore I was by the end of my first day so I plan to take things very easy. I don't want to hurt!

  13. It's a slow build up. Even when you don't have an injury, when I first started doing push-ups I could only do 5 and then I worked up to 30 or more every day.

I want Nightchaser but I was hoping for Netgalley instead of Edelweiss. I also bought Gentleman Nine. Anne - Books of My Heart

    1. Sourcebooks doesn't list as many books on Edelweiss but since I don't have to wait for approval, I tend to grab books there when I can. I do have to gradually build up my stamina.

  15. I'm happy you're doing what's best for you and taking it easy at work. It's probably been a rough transition, and you're going to need time to mend and adjust. Sending positive thoughts your way!

I didn't know Amanda Bouchet had a new book! I enjoyed her other series, but didn't agree with a lot of things that happened at the end. I'm definitely going to give this one a shot, so I'm glad I saw it on here. :)

  16. Yeah taking it slow is best in situations like that! Hope you're feeling better soon.

I've seen age of Myth around a bit and I'm tempted to add it, it sounds good- although if I'm honest I want it for that amazing cover too. :)

  25. Bearing in mind that heavy lifting includes books too. Stay away from all hardbacks and anything over about 600 pages!!
But seriously, I'm glad your return to work was okay :-)

  26. Glad you're feeling better. I grabbed Vicious when I saw it on sale too. Take it easy. I remember it taking my husband some time to bounce back when he had a similar surgery.

  27. I'm glad you're feeling better and that you're taking it easy. Recovery time is so frustrating and I get so impatient but it never goes well if I try to push myself to hard. You got some great books! Hopefully that'll help make resting easier!

    1. A 10 pound lifting limit is pretty restrictive. I was going to cook dinner and then realized that the pan I needed was under a whole bunch of pans and I couldn't get to it.

  28. I think it's really good that you've set yourself restrictions and have let people know so they can support you and help you out at work too. That's the way to go about it! I hope the work days don't tire you out too much from here on out. I have heard great things about Vicious so I hope you enjoy it!! I have read a book by V.E. Schawb and I really loved that one ^.^

  30. I'm glad to hear that you are taking care of yourself, now that you're back to work. I know it can be tempting to push yourself while you're there (at least it is for me). I hope things are going better for you, now that we are most of the way through the week.

    1. It is really hard to sit back and have someone else do all the things that I usually did for myself. I don't know that I will ever go back to doing a lot of heavy lifting again though.
