Books from the Backlog #19

Books from the Backlog is a fun way to feature some of those neglected books sitting on your bookshelf unread.  If you are anything like me, you might be surprised by some of the unread books hiding in your stacks.

If you would like to join in, please feel free to enter your link and link back to this post, then spend some time visiting some of the other posts.

This week's neglected book

How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks
Series: Love at Stake #1
Release Date: July 26, 2005 (paperback edition)
Publisher: HarperCollins

So what if he's a bit older and usually regards a human female as dinner, not a dinner date? Yes, Roman Draganesti is a vampire, but a vampire who lost one of his fangs sinking his teeth into something he shouldn't have. Now he has one night to find a dentist before his natural healing abilities close the wound, leaving him a lop–sided eater for all eternity.

Things aren't going well for Shanna Whelan either...After witnessing a gruesome murder by the Russian mafia, she's next on their hit list. And her career as a dentist appears to be on a downward spiral because she's afraid of blood. When Roman rescues her from an assassination attempt, she wonders if she's found the one man who can keep her alive. Though the attraction between them is immediate and hot, can Shanna conquer her fear of blood to fix Roman's fang? And if she does, what will prevent Roman from using his fangs on her...

Why did I add How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire to my bookshelf?

I can't believe that I haven't read this book yet.  I actually added this one to my Kindle account back in February 2011 as a freebie.  It is amazing how many awesome books I have added as freebies over the years.  I didn't actually get around to reading anything written by Kerrelyn Sparks until 2017 and I must say that I love everything of hers that I have read so far.  One of the things that I am really enjoying about this feature is the fact that I am forced to look through the books I already own and I am finding a lot that I didn't remember owning.

What are your thoughts? Have you read this book?  Would you recommend it to others?

  3. I read a few of these books way back when I was first discovering my tastes in the UF/PNR genre. Not sure if I looked at this one though.

  4. I don't know if I have this one but I love this author's other series. I have many, many freebies I've collected over the years. I often have early ones from authors who are now very popular. For example, I have some Colleen Hoover stuff I got as freebies. COYER is doing the look at what you got role for me. This week is Dusting Off the Shelves, plus there's a mini-challenge of romantic suspense. So I went to my Goodreads shelf for romantic suspense, sorted it by date added and picked some gems by Brenda Novak and Kaylea Cross. They are both authors I read regularly and I had a couple freebies on the shelf from them. Anne - Books of My Heart

    1. I have a few Colleeen Hoover books that I picked up for free as well. I think that they used to offer a lot more freebies that were really good.

  15. I already love that there is a vampire millionaire romance book. I see so many millionaire or billionaire romances that this paranormal twist on it makes me smile :)
