This week's neglected book
Series: The Edge #2
Release Date: September 28, 2010
Publisher: Ace
Release Date: September 28, 2010
Publisher: Ace
The Edge lies between worlds, on the border between the Broken, where people shop at Walmart and magic is a fairytale–and the Weird, where blueblood aristocrats rule, changelings roam, and the strength of your magic can change your destiny…
Cerise Mar and her unruly clan are cash poor but land rich, claiming a large swathe of the Mire, the Edge swamplands between the state of Louisiana and the Weird. When her parents vanish, her clan’s long-time rivals are suspect number one.
But all is not as it seems. Two nations of the Weird are waging a cold war fought by feint and espionage, and their conflict is about to spill over into the Edge—and Cerise’s life . William, a changeling soldier who left behind the politics of the Weird, has been forced back into service to track down a rival nation’s spymaster.
When William’s and Cerise’s missions lead them to cross paths, sparks fly—but they’ll have to work together if they want to succeed…and survive.
Why did I add Bayou Moon to my bookshelf?
This poor book has been sitting on my kindle since December 2014 waiting for me to get around to reading it. I love Ilona Andrews so adding it to my tbr pile was a no brainer. I have actually read the first book in this series, On the Edge, twice and really liked it both times. This would be a great book to dust off the next time I find myself in a book slump.
What are your thoughts? Have you read this book? Would you recommend it to others?
Sometimes I feel like if a sequel sits too long, I will never read it, because I have totally forgotten the previous book.
ReplyDeleteI almost always remember books that I have read more than once and I read the first one twice so I am probably good to go. I really need to work this one in soon.
DeleteI have never heard of this one before but I can relate to a kindle backlog of books:)
ReplyDeleteI could spend the rest of my life just trying to catch up on all of my reading material.
DeleteIlona Andrews is an author I tried once but never went back to. I read her first Kate Daniels book and gave it 3 stars but never read on and I'm always thinking I should read it again to decide if I want to read the series.
ReplyDeleteI adore all things Ilona Andrews so it is kind of surprising that I have read the rest of this series since I have had it sitting around for so long.
DeleteI've actually read this one. I gave it 3 stars and thought there were too many characters and I didn't like some development/obstacle in the romance, apparently but I can't remember what happened :)
ReplyDeleteOh no....only 3 stars?!?! I do still want to read it but I will keep that in mind.
DeleteI'm grouch though so keep that in mind too :)
Delete:)
DeleteI have the first book to read
ReplyDeleteI read that one twice and really liked it.
DeleteI've only read one book by this author but I did enjoy it. I like the idea of "bayou" so this is one that interests me.
ReplyDeleteIlona Andrews writes such great books. I love this writing team. This one does look interesting.
DeleteYou remind me. I read book one and this one, but still need to read three and four in the series. I loved Bayou Moon more than book one. This family is a hoot!
ReplyDeleteI liked the first book quite a bit so maybe I am good to go with this one.
DeleteOh I loved this series, but listened to them. I hope you get to it.
ReplyDeleteI have the audio for the first book and was actually thinking of trying that route.
DeleteGoing to do this feature next week, for sure. I just have a few obligations to fulfill first.
ReplyDeleteI read the first 3 books to this series but I've long since gave up. It was ok, I guess.
It would be great if you could join in, Joy! I do want to get back to this series but I keep getting distracted by other books.
DeleteThat poor neglected book! It is a good one
ReplyDeleteIt's Ilona Andrews!
DeleteIts an Andrew's book, so most definitely!
ReplyDeleteJust what I was thinking :)
DeleteI have so many books that have been on my shelf (or Kindle) forever. I have yet to read Ilona Andrews, but one of these days... as soon as I read a few more off those shelves, of course. :-)
ReplyDeleteNicole @ Feed Your Fiction Addiction
I just have to remind myself that books don't expire or anything so I still have time.
DeleteI've enjoyed some of her books. I often grab a book from a series I've enjoyed and then fail to get back to it. I now have a personal challenge to read them.
ReplyDeleteI know that I will read this series at some point but I seem to keep putting it off for some reason.
DeleteCool title, and I love the idea of the Weird, of alternate worlds that overlap with ours. Sounds fun!
ReplyDeleteThe world that this series is set in is very unique.
DeleteOh that poor book! I feel guilty about the ones of mine that have been sitting around for ages. I imagine them feeling very sorry for themselves :-(
ReplyDeleteExactly! I have so many sad neglected books.
DeleteOh this sounds like a great read slump buster! I have an Ilona Andrews coming up on my reading list and I'm super excited! I always hesitate to pick up the 2nd book in a series when I really love the first. I'm always worried that it won't live up to my expectations.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you think of Ilona Andrews!
DeleteI haven't managed to get to this one either, although it's been sitting on my shelf for awhile too.
ReplyDelete(Would you mind if I participated in this event, but posted a day early?)
Please feel free to post on whichever day works best for you, Wendy. I will have the link-up available every Thursday and it is open for a week. If you wanted to post on Wednesday, you can link up on Thursday if you like.
