I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality.
My daughter is currently on a trip to Chicago with the Jazz Ensemble from her school so my husband and I are enjoying a weekend with just the two of us (plus 3 dogs). I haven't spent as much time on the blog so that I could do a few fun things with my husband. That is why this post is a day late. I do promise to start getting around to all of the blogs soon.
This was a weird reading week for me. I usually listen to several audiobooks every week but for some reason nothing seemed to appeal to me. I listened to about a half hour of 3 or 4 books on day before just giving up. I was able to listen to one for a bit by the end of the week so I hope that slump is over.
My Life
This was another good week. My daughter received her results from the ACT which she took a few weeks ago. She scored a 33 and it was her first time taking the test. This kid amazes me! We ended up spend a lot of the week talking about college plans and career choices which was great. Books Won

Legally Charming by Lauren Smith (Won - Delighted Reader)
I was thrilled to win a copy of Legally Charming courtesy of Lauren Smith. I entered this giveaway over at Delighted Reader as part of The Great Pick Up Line #TGPUL series which has been a lot of fun so far this February.
What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!
I'm just waiting for March to get back into my apocalypse and horror reads! The dog experiment has gone badly as I abandoned another one last night!
ReplyDeleteI had hoped to fit in more dog books than I did this month but the ones I read were pretty good. Sorry you didn't have the same luck!
DeleteEnjoy your time alone with hubs and the dogs. I know exactly how you feel about reading. I've been in a weird mood too. I'm currently relistening to a book from The Hollows series by Kim Harrison because I couldn't decide which book to try next. I hope you get your reading/listening back on track soon.
ReplyDeleteMelanie @ Hot Listens & Rabid Reads
Nothing just seemed to click for some reason but then it did and I am back to my old self. Sometimes it is hard to figure out what fits my mood.
DeleteOoh yay for the win!! But sorry to hear of your reading slump! Those are never fun. Though truthfully I've never really had one since I have so many books in my room that I know I want to read! Lol! Hope your slump ends soon! Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteHere's my STS
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
It was really a listening slump. I had no problems with my actual reading but didn't want to listen to anything for a few days.
DeleteEnjoy your time with the husband. The blog will always be there. I am weird with audios. Sometimes I am all about them and sometimes I just can't. Congrats on your book win! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI did have some fun with the hubby which was nice. This was definitely a week that audios just were not for me.
DeleteYay for such a high ACT score. I can see why she is enthusiastic to talk college plans. neat that you had a fun weekend for two and the pups.
ReplyDeleteOh drat! The weird reading/listening moods must be catchy. I read two blog posts earlier today where bloggers were not feeling settled and liking what they were reading. I experienced it too so I chucked my reading plan list and went to the library Saturday morning. ;)
Have a good week, Carole!
Sometimes mixing things up a bit is just the thing.
DeleteHoly cow! A 33 on the ACT congrats to her! And congrats on your new book. :)
ReplyDeleteWe are thrilled with her score. She may take it again just to see what she gets but now there is no pressure.
DeleteYour daughter owned that test. Good for her! How nice that you and the husband had this weekend all to yourselves (well, plus the dogs). It's always nice to spend time with the ones we love. I pretty much know within the first 30mins if the audiobook will work for me or not. I am eternally grateful that I have free access to audiobooks, because I am a finicky listener.
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to have some time with my husband to go and have some fun. He works a lot of weekends and my daughter often keeps us busy when he is home. It was nice to have a couple of days without plans.
DeleteCongrats to your daughter - she rocks! And it's great that you guys are getting to spend some time thinking ahead about her future.
ReplyDeleteIt is so weird to think that it will probably just be me and my husband in another year and half. A lot of decisions need to be made.
DeleteCongrats on your daughter's score. That is awesome! I won that book too! I just got it yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI got mine on Saturday as well. Otherwise, I had no idea what to put for this post :)
DeleteGood job :D No idea what ACT is but if you are happy I guess it was amazing :D
ReplyDeleteThe ACT is a test that colleges look at to help determine if you get in and to award scholarships.
DeleteCONGRATS on your win!! I would like to read that one as well!! I like Delighted Reader-just found that blog!! Here is my STS

Week in Review
She always seems to amaze me!
DeleteGlad you had a great week, and congrats to your daughter on a great score! Hope you guys had a great weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteWe did have a great weekend, Greg!
DeleteCongrats on the win! I love Shari's TGPUL posts and giveaways. I hope you enjoy this book!
ReplyDeleteHave a great week, Carole. =)
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
Shari and Sophia Rose both do such a great job at Delighted Reader.
DeleteAw yay for some time with the hubby. It's been weird for audiobooks with me lately, too. I just can't settle on one. Hope you had a good weekend!
ReplyDeleteI guess I go through times when I am just not feeling the audios. Oh well, I have been flying through them this year so slowing down is not a bad thing.
DeleteOne-on-one time with your spouse is important! My husband and I are currently struggling with that because we have three wee ones, lol. They don't do exciting things like travel to Chicago, but that's okay! I'm not ready for them to grow up yet. I'm sure the dogs enjoy having the extra attention, too!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been listening to as many audiobooks either, but I just finished How to Love by Katie Cotugno and it was pretty good. I loved the narrator.

Do You Dog-ear?
I don't know why the link posted twice! Sorry! ;)
DeleteIt is hard to get time without your kids when they are little. My baby is a few months away from 18 but I have been there.
DeleteA 33 is impressive! I don't know how it is where you are but in the southeast most schools really focus on ACT scores when it comes to scholarship. Doing some fun stuff with your husband is a great reason to miss blog time! I've had a few spells where I just couldn't settle on a book in any form. It drove me crazy but thankfully it was usually short lived. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThe ACT does play a huge role in terms of scholarships from my understanding. I am so happy for her and I kind of feel like I won the lottery without buying a ticket :)
DeleteCongratulations on your daughter getting such a good score! And a nice weekend in with your husband sounds really nice. I am glad you got to spend time with him. It's alright to take breaks from the blog to be spending it with loved ones ;)
ReplyDeleteWe are very happy with my daughter's score and the weekend with my hubby was a nice break.
