Stacking the Shelves #98

I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality.

This was a pretty standard week at our house.  My daughter had her final concert of the year and I must say that I am really looking forward to a bit of a break.  I feel like I need one.  I am starting my Christmas celebrations with family this weekend since my sister is coming in from out of town.  I haven't bought anything for Christmas yet so I will probably be spending my Saturday running around to get ready for the holidays.

Books for Review

Burn Bright by Patricia Briggs (NetGalley)

I was so excited when I received the email that I was approved to read this book on Sunday.  I have already read it and can tell you it is amazing!

Books Won
Wrong Place, Wrong Time by Tilia Klebenov Jacobs (Goodreads Giveaway)

This one is new to me but I thought it sounded like something I would enjoy.   I was very happy to win a Kindle copy on Goodreads.

Books Purchased/Free

Protected by Claire Zorn (Kindle Freebie - no longer free)

I was really lucky to catch this book when it was offered for free earlier this week.  Unfortunately, it is no longer free.  I am looking forward to getting to it when my reading schedule clears up a bit.

What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!

  2. I think everybody needs a break when we arrive towards the end of the year, Carole! I can hardly wait - one more week, and then I have two weeks off. My kids are the same, they are tired and a bit cranky...
You got some amazing books this week! I can't wait to read the next Alpha & Omega book, it's one of the first paranormal series I started reading, and I just love Charles and Anna. I hope it's a good one!
Have a wonderful weekend and happy reading.

    1. I only get 1 day off from my regular work schedule for Christmas so that is kind of a bummer. I am looking forward to having my evenings free though. The new Alpha and Omega book is amazing, Lexxie!

  6. I'm one of those weird people who start shopping maybe around October? Lol! Definitely Black Friday--or is it Black Thursday these days? Lol!--is more of my kickoff day! Glad you're getting a break from all the concert traveling! That can get rough.

Nice new reads!! I sadly fell out of Briggs' books somewhere down the line and just never went back. I hope you will enjoy this latest installment of the Alpha and Omega series!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

    1. Burn Bright is an amazing book. I read it as soon as I got it. I don't really buy a lot of gifts so I don't need to start so early. Everyone is old enough that they just want money these days...lol.

  7. I loved Protected. It was a really beautiful story of a family grieving. It was heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. I hope you like it too.

  10. Oh wow, so much going on for you with early visits, last of band, and still getting ready. All good things, though.

Neat you got picked for the latest Anna and Charles book. I hope I get picked too, but either way, I'm reading it. :)

    Have a good week, Carole!

  17. I am so happy for you that you got Burn Bright!!! There is so much love for Patricia Briggs and I have had her books on my list since I started blogging eight years ago. I do plan on reading her in 2018 and seeing if I like her books, I am just so picky about UF. But need to read it more. Hope you enjoy and hope you get everything ready for Christmas for your family.

  18. I *still* need to read Patricia Briggs' books. I love werewolf stories, so I'm not sure why I haven't completed the series. I think, because I accidentally read the second book in the series once upon a time, that I got too confused reading it. But I definitely want to try again from the beginning this time.

    1. Everything Briggs writes is wonderful. I love how the both of the series are in the same world and share characters. I do think it is best to read her books in order.

  21. I hope the paperback of Burn Bright isn't going to be a whole year away...I hate that! I grabbed a dog book for Barb's dog challenge next year, the new Hunter Shea book and the newest release in an apocalypse series. Fun! Have a good reading week!

  24. I enjoy Briggs' book so much. I am always excited to see the new covers too. Hope you have a nice holiday and enjoy some celebrating along with some downtime. If it makes any sense, I'm looking forward to the day AFTER Christmas. Things tend to settle down then and it seems like after the big day, I'm a tad bit more able to enjoy the holiday season.
