I am really excited to participate in Stacking the Shelves, a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews and Reading Reality.
This was supposed to be a calm week but that didn't quite work out. Right now my calendar looks pretty peaceful for next week and I am looking forward to a more relaxed schedule. My daughter had a jazz performance on Wednesday and a practice on Thursday. These are held in an area that I don't want my daughter to drive to so that means that either me or her father go and sit with her. This week was my turn so my nights were filled after my 8 hour work day. It can be exhausting.
I was so excited to get my new Kindle this week. I actually ended up getting it on Monday which was the day before its release. I got the version with the 32 GB and cell connectivity. I haven't had as much of an opportunity to use it as I would have liked but I love it so far. I have 4 other kindles: Kindle Keyboard, Basic Kindle, Paperwhite, and Voyage. (Yes, I have a problem but I am not even sorry.) I have said so many times over the years that I wanted a screen that was a bit bigger. I also really like having a page turn button since I am not a big fan of the touchscreen. The new Oasis has both of those things plus it feel really nice in my hands with its aluminum back which I like a lot more than plastic. Now I just need to figure out what kind of case I want to get for it.

I still need to read the first two books but I couldn't resist grabbing this one. I am ready to binge read the whole series.
What books do you add to your shelves this week?
Let me know in the comments and be sure to leave a link to your own STS post!
I hope you get your more relaxed week this week, Carole. You certainly have earned it! I hold no judgement for you and your Kindle collection. I have been considering adding to my e-reader collection myself, actually. I only have three (Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Fire and a Nook Color), but I feel like I should update my Nook Color and the Voyage is awfully tempting . . . Now you've got me wanting an Oasis. Zero Day looks good! I hope you like the series.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, Carole!
I think I may get the quiet time I need this weekend. So far so good. I didn't even mention my Kobo. Oh well, there are worse things to spend my money on :)
DeleteI'm not a fan of touchscreens either...the screen end up in a right mess with all the sweaty fingerprints! I have two ereaders-one for Amazon downloads and the Kobo for all my free epubs from newsletters and websites. I judge nobody!
ReplyDeleteYou do need to use the touchscreen on this one for things beyond turning the page so fingerprints may still be an issue. I am happy to have the buttons for the page turns though. I have heard great things about the newer Kobo!
DeleteI hope your schedule calms down. Oh the new Kindle! I am so tempted to get one but my paperwhite is still going so I will wait. Enjoy the new book and that series - Have a great week!!
ReplyDeleteI told my husband about the new Kindle and he told me to get it. He didn't have to tell me twice ;)
DeleteI am drooling over your new Kindle. You can never have too many. Enjoy!!!
ReplyDeleteI actually do use them all. My daughter may take ove my Paperwhite soon though.
DeleteEnjoy your new Kindle! I have a really old Kindle Paperwhite, but I prefer reading real books.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
My old eyes sometimes have problems with print books. I do much better with my Kindle but read print books every once in a while.
DeleteI hope your next week is more relaxing. I can understand how exhausting it can be to attend all those things after your regular 8 hours job :(
ReplyDeleteWow, you have such an amazing collection of Kindles. I hope you enjoy your new Oasis :D Have a great weekend!
My STS: http://flippingthruthepages.com/2017/11/stacking-shelves-10/
I am looking forward to a much calmer schedule. This weekend has been quieter so far.
DeleteYour new kindle looks so big! I am use to just the kindle fire 6 inch so I would really love a big one like that! Anything bigger than the one I have would be awesome! lol.
ReplyDeleteI have the first two books in the Hatching series and just picked up Zero Day, I liked the first one, the second was kind of dull so I hope the ending is going to be great! :)
Have a great weekend!
Stormi
This one has a 7" screen but that makes enough of a difference for me. It's not too big to hold comfortable but big enough not to be constantly turning pages. I hope I enjoy the Hatching series. Fingers crossed!
DeleteWow, that screen is soooo much bigger than my kindle (I think it's the paperwhite one). Have a fun week!
ReplyDeleteThe paperwhite has a 6" screen and this one has a 7" screen but it is more of a difference than you would think.
DeleteLove the kindle. I got a new one a while back so even though I do want more up to date one am trying to put it off for a while yet. Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteI think I have only had my Voyage for about a year. This is the first update that I was really excited about.
DeleteOhhhh new kindle!
ReplyDeleteI love my new kindle!
DeleteI haven't even heard of this new Kindle...how have I missed this. Need to check it out asap. Hope you continue to love it and it's only a problem if you don't use it ;) My Shelf
ReplyDeleteI will be putting it to good use :)
DeleteAhhh, very cool! I'd never seen the Oasis before! I like that bigger screen. :D I hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous week, Carole. =)
Alyssa @ The Eater of Books!
I am thrilled with my new kindle. I will be spending lots of time with it.
DeleteHopefully you get more free time to enjoy the Oasis. It sounds like a good fit for you. Maybe you can do a review of its features and what you like- don't like once you're comfortable with it.
ReplyDeleteOh, the spider horror books as I think of Boone's series. Enjoy. :)
Have a great week, Carole!
I was thinking about doing some kind of post comparing all of my devices. I do think that the Oasis is a good fit for me but it is pricey. The Paperwhite is probably a better value.
DeleteOhh a new Kindle, how nice! I still have my very first one. It's a Kindle Keypad. lol
ReplyDeleteI still have my Kindle Keyboard and I use it once in a while. A lot of people like that one the best. It has audio which is nice.
DeleteLove the new Kindle. You must name it! Hope you have a calm week and I still need to great Skitter!
ReplyDeleteI have never thought to name it. My daughter names her trombones so I guess I should think about it. I need to get busy reading Skitter myself!
DeleteCongrats on the new Kindle!
ReplyDeleteHere’s my Stacking the Shelves!

It's a pretty cool new toy :)
DeleteYay, so happy for you. I’m planning on buying The new Kindle. I hope you enjoy your new books and have a wonderful weekend. 😁❤️.
ReplyDeleteThe Oasis is a really nice Kindle. I hope you like it once you do buy it.
DeleteOoo Boone's book look really good. I love his work. Enjoy the Kindle and happy reading.
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental Sunday Memes
I hope it is as good as it looks!
DeleteNice new kindle there! happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Melliane!
DeleteHehe... My new Kindle, is my fourth Kindle. My husband told me that I have issues too. I love my Kindles, and I just let my daughter take over my pink kindle 7. :) Hopefully this week is a little calmer for you.
ReplyDeleteI do have kindle issues! I always want all of the new features. It is a sickness.
DeleteHopefully you were able to get some reading time while your daughter was at practice though I know that still makes for a loooong day. I have a Paperwhite that I keep thinking about upgrading but I can't quite make myself. The Oasis does look really cool though.
ReplyDeleteI do still read on my Paperwhite - it's a great device.
DeleteYay for your new Kindle! I so wanted it, but I have too many expenses and I couldn't justify getting it. I love my Kindle Fire. :)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a more restful week! ~Aleen
You are building a house! I completely understand. I really don't spend money very often so this was my splurge for the year.
DeleteYay for an early arrival! Hope the week is a slow and quiet one for ya :)
ReplyDeleteI do like my quiet weeks :)
DeleteAh the struggles of a parenting life! But safety is first and foremost important so I totally get where you are coming from with wanting to be with your daughter when it's not in the best area. Hope this coming week is the rest instead!
ReplyDeleteYes, my daughter really keeps me busy!
